Image
The enemies within Uhuru, Raila must watch closely In Summary • These are the enemies Niccolo Machievelli counsels in his epic treatise, The Prince, to keep closer than your friends, lest you find too late they have stabbed you and you are no more. • Uhuru and Raila have these characters in their respective circles but less so Ruto for the simple reason the DP commands a certain level of loyalty bordering on a cult. By virtue of their respective positions and status, the Uhuru sphere is the most powerful, but not acting alone. To consolidate his power, Uhuru needs Raila Odinga, whose sphere is significant, but not at par with the President, for obvious reasons. You then have Ruto’s sphere, which is inferior of the three and largely dependent on Uhuru’s sphere, even though DP William Ruto and his support...

The widow who found love

Image
My life in sex: ‘At 70, I’m having great sex’The widow who found love       Im 70 and my partner is 79. I had been widowed for 10 years when we got together. Although life was lonely, I wasn’t looking for a relationship and wasn’t interested in sex. We had known each other for 15 years, but some months ago began to discuss the meaning of life: what’s it all about? These conversations fostered a new intimacy.I had taken it for granted that I was physiologically unfit for a full sexual relationship and was quite unprepared for my physical response to a hug and a chaste kiss. To my surprise, I had few inhibitions and we joyfully embarked on a pleasurable physical relationship. At first, it wasn’t full intercourse. My partner got medication on prescription, but immediately rejected it. The side-effects were incapacitating and, besides, we enjoyed our relationship as it was. Gradually, we found things changing. Increased confidence, affection and trust resulted in...

How to get started as a runner

Image
How to get started as a runner Just how hard should you push yourself if you’re not used to exercise? The biggest mistake you can make when you start running is being overly enthusiastic. It is likely you have not run properly since school, and as mentally prepared as you might be to get going, you probably are not physically ready. Body conditioning is a good way to ease yourself in; cross-training leading on to easy runs is better than going from zero to flat out. Keep it comfortable. A lot of people think they need to really push themselves to get better, but this can have the opposite effect. If you go for a fun 20- to 30-minute jog, you are more likely to be motivated to go again than if you end an hour-long run with a sprint finish, in pain and heaving like a donkey. Some people feel embarrassed if they have to stop running and start walking, but what is important is feeling comfortable. The joy of running often comes from being in a park or in the countryside, so let...

SOCIAL AND EQUALITY TO ALL

SOCIAL AND EQUALITY TO ALL
My main agenda is adopting a Gramscian theoretical framework, the five parts of this volume focus on the various ways in which the political is discursively and materially realized in its dialogic co-constructions within the media, the economy, culture and identity, affect, and education. We focus at examining the power instantiations of sociolinguistic and semiotic practices in society from a variety of critical perspectives, this blog focus at how applied political linguists globally is responding to, and challenge, current discourses of issues such as militarism, nationalism, Islamophobia, sexism, racism and the free market, and suggests future directions. No peace, no unity, no coexistence hence all becomes vanity...! It's why the world is oval.
