WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL NAME OF "AFRICA" BEFORE THE EUROPEAN CAME TO CONLONIZE IT IN 1822?
As a historian, before I give my readers an account about the original name of Africa, it is imperatively important to go back billions and billions years ago in order to come back with realistic truth. When God created Adam and Eve as the first human beings on Earth (Genesis Chapter one (1) verses twenty-six to thirty-one) (26 - 3 1), God blessed them to grow in numbers and subdue the Earth through hard work in diversity.The different colours, human beings have, come as accident qualities.These colours might have come through geographical developments human beings passed through in the course of times. So, being a white man, black man, red man, or the mixtures of the three (3) original colours comes as accidents or the results of natural phenomenona. The original colour of Adam and Eve wasn't discussed in the Bible as an only honest book in the history of mankind.
As one of the theologians in the Roman Holy Catholic church before I joined Jordanian Air Academic in 1994, I must attest into it that colours are only and only accidentally appearances and no more. Anything other than that is coming from the devils and its alliances in the world. Again, Mahatma Gandhi's transformative leadership inspired millions to peaceful methods in their fights for India's Independence. Likewise, human beings should continue to spread peaceful methods of coexistence amongst themselves.That's why fatty things that can divide us must be put aside. It is truly our responsibility to ensure peaceful methods of discoveries of our existentialism. We must strive to have basic knowledge about our ancestral-land, namely, "AFRICA."
SO, WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL NAME OF AFRICA BEFORE THE EUROPEAN CAME TO CONLONIZE IT IN 1822 ?
Before the Europeans and other nations or nationalities came to make their settlements in the present day, "AFRICA" the Continent was known by various names, including the name, "Alkebulan."
THE MEANING OF THE WORD "ALKEBULAN."
The word ALKEBULAN comes from the Arabic word Alkebulan (AL - KEBU - LAN), meaning "Mother of Mankind" or "Garden of Eden"), it was also called "LIBYA" by the Greeks, and "AFRI" by the Roman Empire. So, our identity as early as human societies was concerned, it was exhaustively recognised as the beginning of mankind. More details were broken down as follows:
1. Alkebulan;
2. Libya;
3. Afri; and
4. Other Names;
1. ALKEBULAN: Some scholars and historical sources suggest that "Alkebulan" (meaning Mother of Mankind) or "Garden of Eden" was the name used by the "Indigenous people of the Africa" before the Europeans came in contact with the Africa.
2. LIBYA: in the Ancient times, Greeks referred to the "Continent" as LIBYA. We don't know why they decided to name it " Libya." What relationship between Africa and Libya ? Why was the African continent identical with Libya ? We need to do more research on this field in order to know categorical meaning about our mother-land "AFRICA."
3. AFRI: The Roman Empire referred to the region or continent as "AFRICA TERRA" (which means land of the AFRI. Note that the Europeans added the letters C and A to coin up the name AFRICA.
4. OTHER NAMES: Other names used for the continent or parts of it include Ethiopia, Corphye, Ortegia, and Cush. Our modern and contemporary historians must make widen research in order to find out the meanings and the origin of the above words. As long as you live, you must continue to build your knowledge about things around you. Big knowledge comes from big minds that continue making scientific discoveries in learning processes.
The brief explanation is that the Romans referred to the region as "AFRICA TERRA" (the land of the AFRI), based on the stem AFR with adjective "ic" giving AFRICUS, AFRICA, AFRICUM in the nominative singular of the three (3) Latin genders.There are many historical hypotheses that suggest people of Africa must work to retrieve their identity back. Should it be thy original name "Alkebulan" or cultural heritages which were deluded by sweeping Europeans' cultural identities. Primarily, African people, as we believed, we must engage ourselves to work very hard to get rid of the corrupted names of our African identity.
In conclusion, the purpose of taking my time in writing to my readers this article is to ensure that we must work jointly to bring back our identity to its original forms as Alkebulan. According to the latest United Nations data elaborated currently, the population of Africa is one billion, five hundred and thirty nine million, nine hundred and seventy five thousand and five hundred sixteen (1, 539, 975, 516). In comparison to the nationwide population of Africa with the American populations, the United States of America's population is three hundred and forty-seven million, two hundred, seventy-five thousand and eight hundred and seven (347, 275, 807) people in the recent census.
If the African population is exceedingly the greatest population in the world, then we have a monopoly of power hidden in Africa. In terms of human's resource development, Africa must liberate itself from the bandages of the Western world and their Alliances.
Again, according to these findings, Africa or Alkebulan is categorically considered to be the Mother of Mankind or Garden of Eden, and then we are the original source of all humanity. Many people believe that Ethiopia and South Africa put together constituted the Garden of Eden.
I am one of these people who are employed by critical thinking to take AFRICA to its original name of ALKEBULAN. Our African political bodies, like African Union (AU) and many other organisations in Africa, must work jointly to make Pan Africanism a reality. God will take care of the restoration of Alkebulan instead of this foreign name: "AFRICA."
