 WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL NAME OF "AFRICA" BEFORE THE EUROPEAN CAME TO CONLONIZE IT IN 1822?  As a historian, before I give my readers an account about the original name of Africa, it is imperatively important to go back billions and billions years ago in order to come back with realistic truth. When God created Adam and Eve as the first human beings on Earth (Genesis Chapter one (1) verses twenty-six to thirty-one) (26 - 3 1), God blessed them to grow in numbers and subdue the Earth through hard work in diversity.The different colours, human beings have, come as accident qualities.These colours might have come through geographical developments human beings passed through in the course of times. So, being a white man, black man, red man, or the mixtures of the three (3) original colours comes as accidents or the results of natural phenomenona. Cabinet approves new policies, reforms in inaugural meeting under President Ruto

Cabinet on Tuesday, September 17, approved several new policies and reforms during its inaugural meeting under President William Ruto.

 The session followed a Cabinet induction programme designed to advance the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The meeting centred on enhancing accountability and transparency in public affairs to combat corruption.

President Ruto outlined key reforms, including implementing surcharges for officials responsible for the loss of public resources, as stipulated in Articles 226(5), 201(d), and 232(b) of the Constitution.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the introduction of a unified Personnel Identification system to prevent 'ghost worker' payroll fraud.

This, Ruto said, will be supported by a framework for continuous vetting of public officers and centralisation of wealth declarations.

To address corruption, the Cabinet will amend relevant statutes and review the Witness Protection Act to better support whistleblowers.

A zero-based budgeting system will be adopted from the fiscal year 2025/26, and efforts to enhance transparency in VAT refund processes will be intensified.

The Cabinet also sanctioned the transition from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the Social Health Authority (SHA), effective October 1, 2024.

The Edu Afya and Linda Mama programmes will be expanded to cover more students and provide comprehensive maternal care.

  The  Komodo dragon  is a lizard in the family Varanidae, the monitor lizards. It is well known for being the largest living species of lizard. Lizards are reptiles in the order  Squamata , which also includes snakes. Lizards are generally smaller than other reptiles, and the Komodo dragon is an example of this. Although it grows to an impressive size, it is still considerably smaller than the largest snakes and crocodiles.    Nine kids who were the first beneficiaries of the Victor Wanyama Foundation scholarship programme are undergoing a mentorship programme in Nairobi.With the schools closed for the mid-season break, the foundation is taking the kids through a three-day mentorship programme, Elvis Majani, the foundation’s advocate, has explained. SCHOLARSHIP “We want to develop the kids into responsible citizens and we are therefore very keen in all aspects of their lives. Some of them are coming to Nairobi for the first time and the excitement they have is evident.
