Kenya wins A Gold medal for corruption

Image
Kenya wins A Gold metal in corruption By: Author  Paul masibo Wabwayi Ngome The culture of corruption has grown roots in Kenyan society at large and has become an endemic. Institutions, which were designed for the regulation of the relationships between citizens and the State, are being used instead for the personal enrichment of public officials (politicians and bureaucrats) and other corrupt private agents (individuals, groups, and businesses). Corruption persists in Kenya primarily because there are people in power who benefit from it and the existing governance institutions lack both the will and capacity to stop them from doing so. This work takes a governance and development perspective to analytically examine the causes and consequences of corruption in Kenya. It identifies the key factors (such as absence of strong and effective democratic institutions, centralized power, lack of public accountability, and impunity) and synthesizes and analyses available data,...

Lessons for Ruto: Three men and how they played their cards Combined photos from left: Mwai Kibaki, Charles Njonjo and Jaramogi Oginga. While Njonjo instantly gave up and Kibaki played cool and bade his time, Oginga took the bull by the horns.     In the aftermath of the 1982 abortive attempt by the military to overthrow President Daniel arap Moi’s government, Cabinet minister Charles Njonjo was a hunted and haunted man. His direct telephone link to the President was abruptly disconnected and he was told that he would henceforth only go to State House on appointment. In the few times he met the President, the latter deliberately created situations for interruptions so that Njonjo would have as minimal time as possible to discuss anything meaningful with him. It was a strange experience for Njonjo. He had strongly persuaded President Jomo Kenyatta to appoint Moi his deputy, and gone out of his way to pull down any barrier to Moi’s ascendancy to the top offi...

Image
The first consultative meeting held in Kisii on Friday to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report has elicited mixed reactions from political leaders across the country, setting the stage for a tough political duel ahead of the 2022 polls. As Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga was leading the first regional meeting, Deputy President William Ruto was in Vihiga County questioning the rationale of the meetings, calling them a waste of public funds as nobody is opposed to the report. In a swift rejoinder, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna on Sunday in Narok told off the DP, saying it had been agreed after the Bomas convention that meetings will kick off countrywide to rally Kenyans behind the document. “Kenyans will point out areas which they feel might have been left out in the draft report. 10 LEADERSHIP QUALITIES TO LOOK FOR WHEN HIRING A MANAGER Managers have the power to make or break their organizations. While great leaders encourage their employees to reach their full potential and help their organizations surpass their goals, terrible dictators discourage workers to the point they want to jump ship. And many of them do. According to the  Wall Street Journal , nearly half of employees who leave jobs do so to get away from their bosses. Since you don’t want to lose your best employees, it's critical that you do everything you can to ensure you fill managerial positions with the right people in the first place. As you go about your search for a new manager, keep in mind that great ones usually possess these 10 leadership qualities. 1. current politics in uganda

Image
Museveni rose to power through the barrel of the gun and on top of a tank. That was more than thirty years ago, long before more than eighty per cent of Ugandans living today were born. He rose to power proclaiming himself a member of a "new breed of African leaders." He repeatedly criticized other African leaders on the grounds that they were dictators who "clang to power" and could only relinquish power through death. He asserted that his only interest was to obliterate dictatorship from Ugandan politics--which had been introduced into Uganda by Obote I, Idi Amin, Yusuf Lule, Godfrey Binaisa, Paul Muwanga, Obote II, and Tito Okelo. More than thirty years later, he has entrenched his name in the history of Uganda as the biggest dictator of them all. Secondly, Museveni rose to power proclaiming that he was a Marxist. At the University of Dar es Salasm, where he studied political science at the undergraduate level, he wrote a paper based on Frantz Fanon...

SOCIAL AND EQUALITY TO ALL

SOCIAL AND EQUALITY TO ALL
My main agenda is adopting a Gramscian theoretical framework, the five parts of this volume focus on the various ways in which the political is discursively and materially realized in its dialogic co-constructions within the media, the economy, culture and identity, affect, and education. We focus at examining the power instantiations of sociolinguistic and semiotic practices in society from a variety of critical perspectives, this blog focus at how applied political linguists globally is responding to, and challenge, current discourses of issues such as militarism, nationalism, Islamophobia, sexism, racism and the free market, and suggests future directions. No peace, no unity, no coexistence hence all becomes vanity...! It's why the world is oval.
